WORKLIFE Matter #0002

Updated: Jan 10, 2024

  1. Behind every strong exterior, there is a fragile heart; behind every smiling face, there are moments of silent tears. Sometimes, when we are tired, in pain, or weary, all we can do is hide it.

  2. External comparisons are the source of our mental unrest, preventing us from being at ease. This causes most people to lose themselves, blocking the inherent fragrance of their souls.

  3. Happy people are not without pain; they just refuse to be controlled by it.

  4. If you have a pile of apples, some good and some bad, you should eat the good ones first and discard the bad ones. If you start with the bad ones, the good ones will also spoil, and you will never taste the good ones. People need to be good at making choices, knowing what they want, what they should want, what to give up, and making the right, suitable choices for themselves. Otherwise, they will only be torn between conflicting desires.

  5. In movies and TV shows, the heroes often go through hardships and endure torture, ultimately moving the heavens and earth. Their victory seems inevitable but is often reliant on a stroke of luck, divine intervention at a critical moment, the enemy's negligence, or their inexplicable fortune. This is not universally applicable. In other words, if someone else were in the hero's shoes, they might have died long ago.

  6. Parents' love for us is always unconditional. Even if we spend our entire lives trying, we can hardly repay them; the only thing we can do is treat them in the way they like. In fact, the filial piety required by parents is very simple; it is nothing more than sitting down and listening to them patiently, and speaking to them nicely.

  7. No matter how high your IQ is, if you lack communication skills, you'll end up admiring yourself alone in a corner.

  8. You want a good life but are unwilling to endure hardship and work hard. You only want to choose easy paths, but then discover that those paths are not easy at all.

  9. Photographer Nobuyoshi Araki once said, "The face is the most naked. I have taken thousands of faces. I can tell how a person has lived by looking at their face." Life carves everything onto our faces. As we age, all our experiences and adventures leave traces on our faces.

  10. Without long-term worries, there will be immediate worries. Instead of focusing on current difficulties, it might be better to temporarily ignore them and consider what state you want to be in 5 or 10 years from now. Then, starting from the bigger picture, step by step, deduce the most important things you should do at the moment.

  11. The deepest hurt in the world comes from the person we love the most. Their cut will be deeper than anyone else's.

  12. In times of smooth sailing, there may be hidden dangers. However, with proper planning and creating conditions, we can face unexpected challenges in life calmly, without panic.
